Welcome Fellow Rectonians / Classmates to our very own homepage. I am truly glad that this has become an opportunity for all of us to exchange stories, reminisce about the past and even gain the ability to get together every now and then. It is my hope that everybody who visits this site gets to feel the same excitement that I felt when it all started. Looking at the pictures was very nostalgic and brought back a lot of memories from yesteryears, visualize familiar faces of our friends we have not seen in over twenty years.. Other CMRHS graduates may want to share their experience and use this website as a medium in bringing the CMRHS family closer together. May I request therefore, on some of you, to please introduce yourself, type in some notes or messages and kindly tell us who you are or where you're coming from. After all, this is our purpose in visiting the website - to know each other and share some memories. Again, thanks to everyone. Enjoy your visit to the site.

SEARCH FOR OUTSTANDING ALUMNI

The  Claro M. Recto High School Organizing Committee strongly  believes that giving recognition to alumni would greatly challenge others to imbue the value of excellence, dedication and integrity in life. This will give us opportunity to enliven noteworthy memories of our Alma Mater, reinforce and nourish relationship with our school and our fellow alumni.

The Outstanding Alumni Awards is aimed at recognizing the exceptional accomplishments of the graduates of CMRHS for their professional or vocational achievement and contribution to the community at the local, national or international levels.

Recipients should have those qualities of leadership, professionalism and commitment to high quality standards of conduct and ethical behavior that would cause the school to be gratified to present the honorees as role models. Someone worthy of emulation for students of CMRHS and other alumni.  It is expected that recipients are recognized by their professional peers as being truly outstanding within the spheres of their practice.

2) - Letter of Resignation from the President

22 May 2011

Dear Fellow CMRHS Alumni,

Please be informed that the recently concluded election of CMRHS Alumni Assoc. Officers for the period July 2011-July2013 (held last March 27 at Bgy Hall 407, MFJhocson, Manila) has been questioned and opposed by some alumni who allegedly have not been informed of such activity. As such they are contesting and now have motioned that said election be ”nullified” and a new general assembly be gathered and another election be launched. This motion to nullify has been put forward by the newly elected Vice President Purity Palo (Batch 73), Elpidio Sacramento (Batch74) and Ramon Orate (Batch 79), hence this call for a General Assembly and Election of Officers on 18 June 2011, details of which are mentioned in the following announcement.

As the current elected President of the CMRHS Alumni Association, it is my wish to avoid any rift or division among my fellow alumni. As such, I am hereby tendering my resignation effective today” to give way to the demands of the protesting alumni representatives. I believe this is my “gentleman’s gesture” and observance of the proper protocol for the smooth transition and turn-over of leadership to the newly elected and deserving officers come June 18, 2011.

I would have wished that the rest of the newly and duly elected officers last March 27, 2011 be retained as they are all deserving and capable individuals who could handle and perform their respective tasks with “gusto”.  I don’t want them to undergo the rigors of another election. But as called for and for reasons of  “transparency and fairness”, I would request that they also give up their positions and submit themselves to another round of election by the majority of the alumni representatives.  As for myself, I will now abstain and will no longer join this coming election to give way to other deserving alumni leaders. However, rest assured that Batch 75 will always be supporting all activities that the alumni association will be espousing and pursuing.

At this juncture, I wish to be a member of the Scholarship Committee led by Ms. Emma Mijares, who have wholeheartedly sustained the Committee’s -“Handog Pabaon Program” which has been a worthwhile endeavor for so many years.

I wish you all success. Best regards.

Very truly yours,

Raymund A. Sullano

PLUS TEN (10) GUESTS (either wife, husband, friend or driver of alumni coordinator)

1.       Venue – the Group met at Kowloon West Quezon City  to determine the actual resources and facilities and policies of the place and from there the Group can effectively  plan from this  perspective.

2.       Attendees – There were thirty (30) alumni officers and ten (10) guests who attended the meeting. Listing of those who attended the meeting is herein provided.

3.       Call to order- The meeting was called to order by  Raymund Sullano at 3:30 pm. The following matters were discussed.

3.1. A comment on the lack of dissemination of information on the event especially to the faculty members of CMRHS was raised. Advertising materials , tarpaulins were not visible along the area within the School. Along this line, it was noted that there were four (4) tarpaulins produced which were expected to have been placed in conspicuous areas; Loreto Church, G. Tuazon, Jhocson and CMRHS along Legarda St. , The non-availability of this ad material, as alleged  will be verified. Letters of Invitation with Complementary Tickets have been endorsed to Gng Buhay who volunteered to personally handle dissemination of information to former co-teachers.

3.2. The Principal of the School was likewise informed of the event. As a matter of fact, the letter of the activity was sent to the Division of City Schools, Manila. The negotiation with the authorities of the DepEd was made because the venue was initially set at CMRHS compound. However, physical limitation of the School, such as non availability of parking space, limited number of comfort rooms, small space, lack of ventilation, lighting, security and safety provisions, left the organizers with no option than to look for a better venue.

3.3. Preference to the invitation to attend the event will be made to the faculty members of the alumni, most of whom have retired from their service to the School. Such is being made because it is to these teachers whom they are very much grateful for and whom they would like to see.  Faculty members currently teaching in the School are new and the likelihood that the alumni are not much acquainted with them is great. As such the Grand Alumni Committee will simply donate “lechon” to this year’s Christmas party of the Faculty members of CMRHS. Notwithstanding the fact that budget constraint is the compelling reason for the invitation to zeroing in to ‘old’ teachers.

3.4. The choice of Kowloon as venue was justified by Raymund, among which were as follows:

3.4.1.        Their charge for the meal is much cheaper than Aberdeen Court and other Chinese restaurants;

3.4.2.        They have function rooms which can accommodate a bigger group of more than 400 persons;

3.4.3.        Other venue would require a minimum downpayment of 80% of the projected total cost upon reservation which at that time, the organizing committee had “Zero Fund” to advance such a huge amount estimated at P80,000.00.

3.4.4.        Parking space for at least 50 cars can be accommodated at the venue;

3.4.5.        Security is provided by the restaurant management.

3.4.6.        Venue is fully air-conditioned and is provided with ample comfort rooms.

3.4.7.        Area is accessible to public transport and near Sampaloc area where most alumni resides.

3.5.  The sizes of the T-shirt, the official attire for the Grand Alumni are herein indicated. The price quoted by the supplier was Php 180.00. However,  only Php 150.00 will be collected from those who will place their order for this. The remaining Php 30.00 will be taken from the payment they made from the fee for the occasion.  As the order is made, corresponding payment is expected. For uniformity, every alumni attending the reunion is expected to comply with the wearing of the Reunion attire. To date there are only 35 orders for the t-shirt.

3.6. There are already three “lechon” donations from the City Mayor of Pollillo Island and one (1) from an alumni based in Las Vegas who wished anonymity. Kowloon charges corkage fee of Php 600 per lechon. Kowloon, thus, suggests that it is advisable for  the lechon  to be of bigger size since the said charge is the same irrespective of the size of this delicacy. Moreover, any meal/ foodstuff served not bought at Kowloon will bear a corkage fee.

3.7. Puring Palo enjoined the creation of subcommittees which form part of the Committees on Logistics. These are subcommittees on multimedia, physical arrangement, registration and ushers and greeters. The functions of each committees are as follows:

3.7.1.        Subcommittee on multimedia

3.7.1.1 Decision on which songs to play

3.7.5.        Joey Sy and Maria Louisa Padilla volunteered to spearhead the leadership of the above committees and the class they represent. Ocular visit of the actual venue of the affair was undertaken by the said Chairpersons of the said committees.

4.       Additional payment for tickets were made to Tina Sullano.

5.       The schedule for the next meeting is on November 7, 2010 at 2:00pm at Chowking, Bustillos, Manila

6.       There having no other matter to discuss the meeting adjourned at 6:15 PM.
